In this section you will find answers to the most common questions about our association.
GEMME stands for Groupement Euroopeen des Magistrats pour la Médiation (European Judges Group for Mediation). It is an association under French law that was created in 2003.
GEMME is governed by a board of directors composed of at least five members, elected by the General Assemblee, to which will be added a member appointed by each national section. The board of directors selects an Executive Committee which consists of a president, two to four vice presidents, a general secretary and an assistant general secretary, a treasurer and an assistant treasurer.
Membership of GEMME is open to all judges, either practicing or honorary. Other professionals, such as attorneys, academics and other qualified persons who demonstrate an interest in mediation and work to promote it can be appointed by the Executive committee of GEMME as associate members.
